One company, since 1956.
Sander Geophysics Limited (SGL) provides worldwide airborne geophysical surveys for petroleum and mineral exploration, and geological and environmental mapping.
Dr. George W. Sander (1924 to 2008) founded SGL in 1956, to provide ground geophysical surveys. The first airborne surveys were performed as early as 1958, and by 1967 airborne geophysical surveys were the company's main focus. SGL is led today by co-presidents Luise Sander and Stephan Sander.
SGL's head office and aircraft maintenance hangar are located at the international airport in Ottawa, Canada. From there the company has operated on every continent including Antarctica, in the tropics, in deserts, in mountains and offshore.
Facilities at head office include a state of the art data processing department with an integrated digital cartographic department, a fully equipped electronics workshop for research, development and production of geophysical instruments, and a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) for fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.
The personnel include geophysicists, software and hardware engineers, aircraft maintenance engineers and pilots. Nearly one third of SGL's resources are devoted to developing new and more efficient instrumentation and techniques.
Airborne surveys, in their own words.
Data processing products include contour, colour or shaded relief maps; filtered line or grid products; computed depth to basement; digital terrain models; two or three dimensional modeling; and complete geophysical interpretative reports.
The instruments are the argument.
AIRGrav is the only purpose-built airborne gravimeter currently flying commercial surveys. Read what it measures, and probe the field yourself.
